It's probably better to do it in the actual robot.txt file rather than each file using the metatag thing. This is because everytime your page loads that metatag also loads. But the robot.txt file doesn't. So the smaller your pages script the quicker it is likely to load. A robot.txt file only needs to load when a robot calls it and not when a visitors looks at one of your pages.
